A Dialog with Colleagues: on What Kind of Conditions? Part 1: Socionics and MBTI

The article considers possibilities of a dialog between socionists and adherents of the American Myers-Briggs Type Theory (MBTI), together with causes of discrepancies between these two theories. Little known facts about disputes between American schools are presented. The disagreement between MBTI and socionics is demonstrated to be based not as much on theories and models but rather on several stable stereotypes attributable to peculiarities of the origin and development of these theories. As an illustrative example of the 'deviation' of the American type determination methods compared to socionics, results of the Internet experiment are presented whose participants tried to recognize socionics types in D.Keyrsey's type descriptions.
